Protestantische Anmerkungen zu Benedikts Liebes-Enzyklika Aus liberalprotestantischer Perspektive und vor dem Hintergrund komplexer Traditionsbildungsprozesse wird der genuin katholische Charakter der Enzyklika „Deus caritas est“ herausgearbeitet. Besonderes Augenmerk richtet sich dabei auf Elemente der Kontinuität, die programmatische Positionen des Systematischen Theologen Joseph Ratzinger mit zentralen Anliegen des ehemaligen Präfekten der Glaubenskongregation und Leitgedanken der ersten Enzyklika Benedikts XVI. verbinden. Kritische Aufmerksamkeit gilt vor allem dem konturschwachen Gerechtigkeitsbegriff und den unklaren Bestimmungen des Verhältnisses von Staat und Kirche sowie Politik und Glaube. Bei aller Würdigung der genrespezifischen Grenzen des Textes muss schließlich gefragt werden, ob die ihn prägende erkennbar geringe Sensibilität für konkrete Problemlagen auf konkurrenzbestimmten Sozialmärkten nicht eher desorientierend auf die Neuausrichtung kirchlich organisierter Caritas wirken wird. Given the complex processes of tradition-building, this contribution elaborates on the genuine Catholic character of “Deus caritas est” from a liberal-protestant perspective. The interpretation focuses on elements of continuity linking the programmatic positions of the systematic theologian Joseph Ratzinger, the main concerns of the former Prefect of the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith and the basic ideas of Benedict XVI’s first encyclical. Critical attention is being paid on the somewhat diffuse concept of justice as well as the unclear definitions of state-church, and politics-faith relationships. Although the genrespecific limits of the text ought to be acknowledged, one should finally ask, whether its reduced sensibility for the concrete problems within competitive social markets will harm the reorientation of the churchly organised Caritas. |
