Jahrgang II, Heft 4 (2004) Jan-Erik Lane Globalisation: Promises and Dangers A plausible theory of globalisation must be based upon two fundamentals concerning the economies of the nation-states, their environments and their governments: interdependency and coordination. The first factor in this equation is the rapidly increasing reciprocities between nations, while the second refers to the unfolding of coordination games between the governments of the major states taking place within global meetings, international organisations and regional cooperation mechanisms. On the one hand, there is the danger that the governments will end up in discoordination or even the worst coordination failure conceivable, a global disaster for mankind. On the other hand, globalisation holds the promise of a Kantian world order, based upon global market prosperity and a world internet community. Eine plausible Theorie der Globalisierung basiert auf zwei Grundsätzen, die sich auf die ökonomischen, ökologischen und politischen Kontextbedingungen der Nationalstaaten beziehen: Interdependenz und Koordination. Während der erstbenannte Faktor auf die zunehmenden wechselseitigen Abhängigkeiten zwischen den Nationen verweist, hebt der zweite auf erkennbare Koordinierungsbemühungen der Regierungen größerer Staaten im Rahmen globaler Gipfeltreffen, internationaler Organisationen und regionaler Kooperationsmechanismen ab. Dabei besteht einerseits die Gefahr, dass unzureichende Koordinierung eine weltweite Katastrophe nach sich ziehen könnte, die die gesamte Menschheit bedroht. Andererseits beinhaltet Globalisierung aber auch die Aussicht einer Kantische Ordnung, die auf einer prosperierenden Weltwirtschaft und einer globalen Kommunikationsgemeinschaft gründet. |
